Bigger. Better. Faster

Three now has the fastest speeds and greatest coverage of any 5G network in the UK. Reaching 54% of the population, Three’s 5G service is available at more than 400 locations and 3,000 sites across the UK, beating former frontrunner EE.

Three was awarded the UK’s fastest 5G mobile network in the Speedtest Awards™ for Q3-Q4, 2021. Powered by Ookla®, Three achieved a Speed Score of 246.65, almost a hundred points ahead of its nearest competitor Vodafone, coming in at 159.4. The results were based on 64,733 user-initiated 5G tests, from all the major mobile carriers in the UK.

David Hennessy, Chief Technology Officer at Three UK said, “We are relentlessly focused on delivering the UK’s biggest and fastest 5G network for the UK. Millions of mobile, business and home broadband customers across more than half the UK’s population are able to access our superfast speeds enabling them to live their digital lives to the fullest.”

Three is predicting that 5G will account for 35% of data usage by the end of 2022. In May, the company announced that by the end of 2024, it will switch off its 3G network that kick-started the mobile revolution two decades ago. With a £3 billion investment plan, focus will remain on 4G customer experience, upgrading existing 4G sites, and rolling out 5G as Three continues to build a ‘Big Network’ for the UK.
