Diversity in the Lead

Three UK has been nominated for the Diversity Steering Group of the Year Award at the upcoming FREDIE Awards 2021. The FREDIEs, run by the National Centre for Diversity, stand for Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement for all.

Three UK is being recognised for its Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Steering Committee and in March, Three signed the “Race at Work” charter to consolidate its public commitment to diversity, inclusion and belonging.

The charter has five clear actions for signatories including appointing an Executive Sponsor, ensuring zero tolerance of harassment and bullying, and supporting ethnic minority career progression.

It’s a no brainer. The facts speak for themselves; genuine race equality would boost the UK economy by an astounding £24 billion per year, and diverse teams produce 36% better financial returns. However, there are still inequities in the workplace, including a notable lack of senior-level champions for diversity and inclusion.

Stephen Lerner, Three UK’s Executive Sponsor for Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging says, “We believe that being diverse and inclusive, with a strong sense of belonging is not only the right thing to do but it will make us a stronger and better business.”

The Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Steering Committee is made up of volunteers from across the business and the key priorities of the Committee are: Conscious leadership, Diversity within recruitment, Inclusive learning and development, and embedding these new values so that it becomes part of Three’s DNA.

The virtual FREDIE Awards 2021 will be live streamed Thursday 20th May. For more information, visit here.
