Flower Power

Hong Kong’s most recent 5G 4K Live performance, “The Universe in a Flower” streamed live on 13 Nov 2021, and was a collaboration between Three Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO) and the Tsz Shan Monastery. Held in Hong Kong’s large traditional Chinese Buddhist monastery, around 860 beneficiaries of 32 social welfare organisations were invited to the event.

360-degree camera drones captured the event while Three’s reliable 5G network ensured online audiences could view the concert live and glitch-free.

The theme of the concert was the symbol of the Buddha, the eternal lotus, representing purity and enlightenment, as it blossoms out of the dirtiest waters.

To celebrate this, a sophisticated “3D Lotus Device” was given away for live and online audiences to bloom during the concert’s online prayer ceremony, through mobile phones and simple hologram projection technology. Images and words of blessing were projected onto the device.

The concert and live broadcast were a huge success, bringing peace and harmony to real and virtual audiences worldwide.

Earlier this year, Three Hong Kong launched its 5G 4K Live Streaming technology with e-ticketing. A range of high-quality performances have been streamed live including HKCO and the Hong Kong Dance Company (HKDC). Audience response has been overwhelmingly positive with demand for live broadcast outside theaters increasing. 4K Live broadcasts have also enabled such world-class performances to reach overseas audiences.
