The ‘Live’ Boat

For Three Hong Kong, it would seem that there’s no mountain too high, or in this case, no sea too wide. In the telco’s latest venture, for the first time ever, a 5G live broadcast concert was held from the helipad of a cruise ship at sea.

Held on 10th March and featuring the accomplished Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO), Three, in collaboration with Resorts World Cruises, offered local and international audiences the opportunity to watch the performance live in the harbour, or via YouTube. Hong Kong spectators watched the event from the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza, while enjoying the view of the stunning Resorts World One cruise ship, docked in Victoria Harbour.

The event was also a chance to celebrate the first cruise ship homeporting in Hong Kong since the full resumption of travel post-pandemic.

Audience responses were positive, confirming that the 5G live broadcasting went smoothly. One audience wrote, “I was honored to enjoy HKCO’s exquisite performance on the cruise ship in person. Just as if we were enjoying a concert at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Thanks to 5G technology, we were able to enjoy the live performance with audiences all around the world.”

Following on from the success of the 5G live broadcast, Three acted as an Official Partner for Art Basel Hong Kong 2023, making the second year of their participation. Three provided dedicated 5G mobile broadband services for the city’s most anticipated annual art show, across two show floors, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in late March.

Three has been promoting art tech development in recent years, and has been committed all along to supporting events of local and international art groups. With the resumption of normalcy in social activities, Hong Kong has become again an “events capital”. Three is pleased to facilitate the government’s “Hello Hong Kong” campaign, which would help to drive Hong Kong’s economic recovery through their strongest 5G network in town.
